Your first date

Meeting someone from for a date can be nervewracking, but it doesn't have to be! Online dating can give you a wonderful foundation on which to base your first date. Instead of going into the date blind, you have the pre-built connection from meeting each other on the dating site. You can already have the confidence that you are compatible!

When deciding where to meet for your first date, there are a number of different factors to consider. First, you should think about safety. You might trust your potential partner, but it is better to get in the habit of practicing safe dating methods just in case of the small chance that you meet someone potentially dangerous.

You should meet in a public area at a populated time. For example, you can meet at a coffee shop or restaurant. You could also meet at a bowling alley or another fun activity. You should not meet at someone's home or at an unpopulated area (such as a hiking trail). In the small chance that your potential partner is a predator, these areas could leave you without any chance of receiving help.

When you are on your date, be sure to be courteous and keep the conversation flowing. It can be a lot harder to talk to someone in person than it is on an online dating service, so you might want to think of some potential conversation topics ahead of time. Asking questions can be a great way to keep a conversation flowing in the right direction, as well as giving you the chance to learn interesting facts and stories about your date.

After your date, it is up to you to decide if you want to keep on seeing the person you met with. If you had a good time, you can be much less cautious about your second date! If you didn't enjoy the date, don't fret- just head back to to try again!
